Ceftin

Form.

Tablets: 125 milligrams,
Tablets: 250 milligrams,
Tablets: 500 milligrams;
Suspension: 125 milligrams per 5 milliliters teaspoon.

No Prescription

Ceftin is effective against susceptible bacterias causing infections of:
- Bronchitis;
- Laryngitis;
- Pneumonia;
- The Middle Ear;
- Throat Infections;
- Tonsillitis;

Ceftin is prescribed in:
- Gonorrhea;
- Skin Infections;
- Treating Urinary Tract Infections;

Additionally, it is useful in treating acute bacterial bronchitis inpatients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Ceftin, a cephalosporin antibiotic, is prescribed for mild to moderately severe bacterial infections of the throat, lungs, ears, skin, sinuses, and urinary tract, and for gonorrhea. Ceftin tablets are also prescribed in the early stages of Lyme disease.

Side Effects.

Ceftin is generally well tolerated and side effects are usually transient.
Reported side effects include:
- Abdominal Pain;
- Diarrhea;
- Headache;
- Headache;
- Hives;
- Mouth Ulcers;
- Nausea;
- Rash;
- Vaginitis;
- Vomiting;

Ceftin side effects that you should report to your health care professional or doctor as soon as possible:
- Vomiting;
- Nausea;
- Diarrhea;
- Diaper Rash In Infants;

Dosage

ADULTS

The usual dose for adults and children 13 years and older is 250 mg, 2 times a day for up to 10 days. For more severe infections the dose may be increased to 500 mg, 2 times a day.

Throat and Tonsil Infections

The usual dose is 250 mg 2 times a day for 10 days.

Sinus Infection

The usual dose is 250 mg 2 times a day for 10 days.

Bronchitis

The usual dose is 250 or 500 mg 2 times a day for 5 to 10 days.

Skin Infections

The usual dose is 250 or 500 mg 2 times a day for 10 days.

Urinary Tract Infection

The usual dose is 250 mg, 2 times a day for 7 to 10 days.

Gonorrhea

The usual treatment is a single dose of 1 gram.

Early Lyme Disease

The usual dosage is 500 mg taken twice a day for 20 days.

CHILDREN

Ceftin oral suspension may be given to children ranging in age from 3 months to 12 years.

Your doctor will determine the dosage based on your child's weight and the type of infection being treated. Ceftin oral suspension is given twice a day for 10 days. The maximum daily dose ranges from 500 to 1000 mg.

For children who are able to swallow tablets whole, the usual dosage for ear infection or sinus infection is 250 mg 2 times a day for 10 days.
