No Prescription and Dosage
Respiratory tract infection, ENT, UTI, soft tissue and bone and joint infections, gynaecological infections, septicaemia, peritonitis and meningitis: 750 every 6-8 hours. 1.5 g, 6-8 hourly in severe cases.
Single dose over 750 , IV only. Infants, Children: Usually 60 mg/kg/day (range 30-100 mg/kg/day) in 3-4 divided doses, 2-3 div doses in neonates.
Prophylaxis: After surgery: Initially1.5 g IV followed by 750 -1.5 g IM t.i.d. for 24-48 hours.
Milder infections of upper and lower respiratory tract, skin and soft tissue infections: (as axetil) Adults: 125-500 b.i.d. according to severity.
Children: 125 b.i.d.
Otitis Media: Children over 2 years: 250 b.i.d. Others: As above.
Uncomplicated Gonorrhoea: Single dose of 1.0 g
Cefuroxime is contraindicated if you have any of the following conditions:
- Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins.
- Injection ampoule of 15 ml;
- Injection ampoule of 20 ml;
- Injection ampoule of 5 ml;
- Tablets strip of 4;
