Itraconazole

Structure

Each capsule contains Itraconazole 100 mg.

No Prescription

Itraconazole is prescribed for:
Candidiasis Oral, vaginal, systemic, chronic mucocutaneous, cryptococcal infections including meningitis coccidioidomycosis and paracoccidioido-mycosis.
Tinea, pityriasis, versicolor, sebopsoriasis, onychomycosis, sporotrichosis, chromomycosis, blastomycosis, histoplasmosis, aspergillosis, fungal keratitis, cutaneous leishmaniasis.

Dosage

Adults: 100-400 mg for up to 6 months.
Children: Safety not adequately established but doses of 100 mg/day for systemic fungal infections have been prescribed in 3-16 years old children.
Elderly: No change in dosage.
For onychomycosis pulse therapy currently advocated

Contraindications

Itraconazole is contraindicated if you have any of the following conditions:
- Children below 12 years;
- Concomitant rifampicin therapy;
- Hepatic disease;
- Hypersensitivity to azole antifungals;
- Pregnancy;
