Ketotifen is prescribed to minimize the frequency and severity of asthma attacks.
Ketotifen is prescribed for a reduction in the use of other asthma medications.
Ketotifen is not effective in treating an active asthma attack (acute attack).
Ketotifen combats the release of chemicals that trigger allergic reactions. Available in eyedrop form, it works within minutes to relieve the itchy eyes brought on by allergies.
Ketotifen side effects that you should report to your health care professional or doctor as soon as possible:
- Runny Nose;
- Increased Blood Flow In The Eyelid;
- Flu- like symptoms;
- Trouble sleeping;
If these persist or worsen, notify your doctor.
Unlikely but report promptly:
- Stomach pain;
- Unusual weight gain;
Very unlikely but report promptly:
- Unusual bleeding or bruising;
- Unusual excitability;
The recommended dose is one drop in the affected eye(s) twice daily, every 8 to 12 hours.
