Side Effects

Pergolide side effects that you should report to your health care professional or doctor as soon as possible:
- anxiety, restlessness;
- chest pain or abnormal heart beats;
- Chest pain;
- confusion or hallucinations;
- Confusion;
- constipation or diarrhea;
- Constipation;
- Decreased sexual function;
- Depression;
- Diarrhea;
- Difficult/painful breathing;
- difficulty breathing or catching your breath;
- difficulty sleeping;
- Dizziness;
- double vision, or other vision problems;
- Drowsiness;
- Dry mouth;
- fainting spells;
- Fainting;
- flu-like symptoms like fever, chills, muscle aches;
- Hallucinations;
- Headache;
- headache;
- Heartburn;
- Increased difficulty moving/walking;
- Itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat);
- loss of appetite;
- lower back pain, or chest or neck pain;
- Memory problems;
- mental changes;
- Mental/mood changes;
- Muscle cramps/spasm;
- Nausea;
- palpitations;
- Rash;
- Restlessness;

Contraindications

Pergolide is contraindicated if you have any of the following conditions:
- an unusual or allergic reaction to pergolide, ergot alkaloids, or other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives;
- breast-feeding;
- history of heart disease or heart valve disease;
- low blood pressure;
- pregnant or trying to get pregnant;
- if you are allergic to other ergot medications (bromocriptine);
- if you are allergic to pergolide;
- if you have any other allergies;
- if you have heart problems (fast/ irregular heartbeat, heart failure, heart valve problems);
- if you have kidney problems;
- if you have low blood pressure;
- if you have lung problems (pulmonary fibrosis);
- if you have mental/mood disorders (confusion, hallucinations, psychosis, schizophrenia);
- if you have sleep disorder (sleep apnea, narcolepsy);

Interactions

Do not take Pergolide with any of the following drugs:
- Alprazolam;
- Antipsychotic medication;
- Anti-seizure drugs (phenytoin);
- Certain antihistamines (diphenhydramine);
- Chlorpromazine;
- Diazepam;
- Ergot alkaloids (ergonovine);
- Haloperidol;
- Medicine for sleep or anxiety;
- medicines for mental problems and psychotic disturbances;
- metoclopramide;
- Muscle relaxants;
- Narcotic pain relievers (codeine);
- Nortriptyline;
- Pimozide;
- Psychiatric medicines;
- Risperidone;
- Thiothixene;
- Trazodone;
- Zolpidem;
