Structure

Salmeterol Inhaler
Each actuation delivers Salmeterol Xinafoate 25 mg, inert aerosol propellants q.s.

Salmeterol Rotacaps
Each capsule contains Salmeterol Xinafoate equivalent to Salmeterol 50 mg

No Prescription

Salmeterol is prescribed in the long-term treatment of asthma (including patients with nocturnal asthma and exercise-induced asthma) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Patients with asthma should normally also be receiving anti-inflammatory therapy.
Salmeterol Inhaler may be prescribed with a Cipla Spacer/Zerostat Spacer device in patients who find it difficult to synchronise aerosol actuation with inspiration of breath.

Dosage

Salmeterol Inhaler
Adults
Asthma: Two inhalations (50 ) twice daily.
Adults with more severe airways obstruction: Four inhalations (100 )
twice daily.
COPD: 2 inhalations (50 ) twice daily.
Children (4 years and above)
Asthma: Two inhalations (50 ) twice daily.
Children (under 4 years)
Not recommended.
Salmeterol Rotacaps
Salmeterol Rotacaps should only be prescribed for inhalation through the Cipla
Rotahaler.
Adults
Asthma: One Rotacap (50 ) twice daily.
Adults with more severe airways obstruction:
Two Rotacaps (100 ) twice daily.
COPD: One Rotacap (50 ) twice daily.
Children (4 years and above)
Asthma: One Rotacap (50 ) twice daily.
Children (under 4 years)
Not recommended.

Contraindications

Salmeterol is contraindicated if you have any of the following conditions:
- Hypersensitivity to any ingredient of the preparation.
