Travoprost

Travoprost is prescribed in the eye to treat open angle glaucoma and high pressure in the eye.
Travoprost is prescribed to treat high pressure inside the eye due to glaucoma (open-angle type) or other eye diseases (ocular hypertension).
Travoprost works by regulating the flow of fluid within the eye to maintain a normal pressure.

Side Effects

Travoprost side effects that you should report to your health care professional or doctor as soon as possible:
- allergic reactions like skin rash, itching or hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue;
- Blurred vision;
- burning, stinging, or discomfort immediately after using the solution;
- changes in eye, eyelash, or eyelid color;
- changes in vision;
- Darkening of the eyelashes and eyelids;
- Dry eyes;
- Eye pain;
- Eye redness/discomfort/itching;
- Eyelid crusting;
- Feeling as if something is in your eye;
- Increase in eyelash number/length/thickness;
- increased flow of tears;
- Increased sensitivity to light;
- Itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat);
- Rash;
- sensitivity of the eyes to light;
- Severe dizziness;
- Swelling/redness of the eyelids;
- swollen or infected eyes or eyelids;
- Tearing;
- Trouble breathing;
- Vision changes;

Contraindications

Travoprost is contraindicated if you have any of the following conditions:
- an unusual or allergic reaction to travoprost or other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives;
- breast-feeding;
- closed angle glaucoma;
- eye abrasion, infection, or swelling;
- pregnant or trying to get pregnant;
- wear contact lenses;
- if you are allergic to benzalkonium chloride (found in certain brands);
- if you are allergic to similar drugs (bimatoprost, latanoprost);
- if you are allergic to travoprost;
- if you have any other allergies;
- if you have eye problems (macular edema, iritis, uveitis, lens extraction/aphakia);

Interactions

Do not take Travoprost with any of the following drugs:
- Eyelash treatment (topically applied bimatoprost);
